In addition, composition of blue pen inks was found to be homogeneous (RSD <2.5%) and the proposed method showed good repeatability and reproducibility (RSD <3.0%). In this method, the discrimination power of 89.40% was achieved, which confirm that the proposed method was able to differentiate a significant number of pen-pair samples. Ink samples deposited on paper were extracted using methanol and separated via a solvent mixture of ethyl acetate, methanol and distilled water (70: 35: 30, v/v/v). This study is aimed to determine the discrimination power of high performance thin layer chromatography (HPTLC) technique for analyzing a set of blue ballpoint pen inks. In cotton, dyes like vat, reactive are used. Sometimes a printed fabric can be identified by looking at the back side of fabric where there is no design or color as face side. Experienced designers choose printing method primarily on the basis final outcome as design sharpness, durability, brightness, texture and hand feel. Being a designer you may have multiple options to decide which printing techniques is most suitable for a specific design on the garment. Defined as the application of dye or pigment in a different pattern on the fabric and by subsequent after treatment of fixing the dye or pigment to get a particular design. Printing can also be defined as localized dyeing. There are several printing techniques, and each of them is suitable for a certain business strategy. In the apparel industry, besides the artwork to be printed, the most important thing is the printing technique. Although both techniques are destructive in nature but Thin Layer Chromatography is best and reliable technique than paper chromatography. Blue ink was not separated by paper chromatography but it was separated and differentiated by thin layer chromatography. The blue ballpoint ink is separated in order to find out the composition of ink and its separation within their brands, model and batches and also to find out that which technique of chromatography is best and also to find out which solvent system is best to perform ink analysis. This study is aimed to determine the separation of ink within brands of blue ballpoint pen and results were compared with the acquired reference sample. The analysis of writing ink (Blue ball point pen ink) by planar chromatography was done using paper chromatography and thin layer chromatography. Ink entries were prepared by writing ?INK? word on paper. Five brands of blue ballpoint pen which are widely used in India were taken (Two models from each brand). Identification of suspected documents has become common subject for forensic document examination. During a forensic document examination a major question which arises in the mind of examiner is: when was a particular ink entry made on the document? Immense numbers of documents are written, printed and copied each year and so are the suspect documents. Additions, alterations, obliterations play an important role in document examination.
Incidents of forgery have increased tremendously and to alter these documents pens are widely used. Document examination has always been an important part of forensic examination.
